A New York native, Michael Imperioli is a director, actor, writer, and musician. His role as Christopher Moltisanti in the HBO crime drama The Sopranos brought him into the limelight. This role earned him the nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2004.

Imperioli attended Lincoln School in Mount Vernon in his early childhood. However, in 1977, he moved to Brewster, New York, and graduated from Brewster High School in 1983.

Imperioli’s role as Christopher Moltisanti on The Sopranos has seen him been nominated for five Emmy Awards. He was also nominated for two Golden Globe Awards for the same role. In 2004, he won one Emmy Award for The Sopranos fifth season. Furthermore, he has appeared in a number of films including; Jungle Fever, Goodfellas, Malcolm X, Bad Boys, Last Man Standing, My Baby’s Daddy, Lean On Me, Clockers, High Roller: The Stu Ungar Story, Shark Tale, Summer of Sam, Girl 6, Dead Presidents, and The Basketball Diaries. Moreover, he wrote five episodes for The Sopranos. He also co-wrote and co-produced Summer of Sam.

In addition, he formed Studio Dante, an Off-Broadway Theater with his wife where he served as artistic director. For a band named La Dolce Vita, he is the lead singer and guitarist. Moreover, he co-hosted The Jazz Foundation of America’s May 2009 annual benefit concert, ‘A Great Night in Harlem” where he is an active member. They celebrated the foundation’s 20th anniversary at the Apollo Theater. On the television show Molto Maria, he was a guest on the ‘San Giuseppe’ episode of Mario Batali’s Food Network. He signed on to play the lead in the ABC television show Detroit 1-8-7 in 2010. Additionally, in 2011, he participated in a reading of The Way of the Cross at the Queens Museum of Art. H also wrote the text “Pride” for Tinti’s book New York Shots working with the writer Gabriel Tinti.

In the NBC drama series Lincoln Rhyne: Hunt for the Bone Collector on 13th March 2019, he was cast in the lead role of Rick Shellito. Together with Steve Schirripa, since 6th April 2020, he co-hosts a podcast titled Talking Sopranos providing inside info as they follow The Sopranos series episode by episode. Moreover, the podcast had reached over five million downloads by September 2020. Furthermore, on 17th September  2020, Schirripa and Imperioli signed a deal with Harper Collins book imprint William Morrow and Company to write an oral history of the show. In July 2020, a Streetcar Named Desire inspired him to host a show on NTS Radio called ELYSIAN FIELDS.

Additionally, he provided narration for The Whistleblower, a podcast about the 2007 NBA betting scandal in September 2020.
