Anson Mount is an American actor best known for playing the character of ‘Cullen Bohannon’ in the ‘AMC’ western series ‘Hell on Wheels.  One of the first contributing editors to “Playboy” magazine was his father, Anson Adams Mount II.

For his performance in Terrence McNally’s Corpus Christi in 1998, Mount received a Drama League Award.

His full-length drama Atomic City was a finalist for the 2008 American Playwrights Conference at the O’Neill Center. His one-act play Love Liza? earned the Maxim Mazumdar New Play Prize. He performed in Three Sisters by Anton Chekhov in 2010 for Classic Stage Company. At Playwrights Horizons in 2018, he made an appearance in Robert O’Hara’s Mankind.

In the independent film Tully from 2000, Mount made his feature film debut as Tully Coats.

He co-wrote, directed, and starred in the independent movie Cook County in 2009, which won prizes at numerous prestigious film festivals like Hollywood, AFI Dallas, Nashville, and SXSW.

The popular AMC television series Hell on Wheels, which Mount co-created from 2014 to 2016, is most recognized for his performance as Cullen Bohannan. On Marvel’s ABC television series Inhumans from 2017, he played Black Bolt.

Anson Mount Star Trek

He was chosen to play Captain Christopher Pike of the Starship Enterprise in the 2018 season of the CBS television series Star Trek: Discovery. Afterward, a popular petition calling for a Pike spin-off series was sparked by his well-received performance. In a few episodes of Star Trek: Short Treks in 2019, he played Pike once more. He will play Pike in the upcoming series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which would debut on May 5, 2022, it was reported in May 2020, partly in response to fan requests.
