The station began live broadcasts of Boston’s two Major League Baseball teams, the Red Sox and the Braves, broadcasts that at first were split along with WNAC-TV in 1948. Prior to becoming a journalist, he led a successful career as an athlete. He was an ALL Big Ten punter at Northwestern between 1994 and 1997, playing in both the 1996 Rose Bowl in Pasadena and taking part in two Big Ten Championships, California and the 1997 Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida. Besides, he spent time in the NFL as a member of the Seattle Seahawks.
